Contests at School

I did fruit carving for the first time when I was chosen to be the participant of a fruit carving contest at school last July. I was chosen because there was no one else can do something artistic. Before the contest, I look for methods on YouTube on how to carve a fruit. And then at the contest, I carved a watermelon to a swan. Some people said it was pretty, but I’m not quite happy with it and it’s not perfect. But surprisingly, I won second place. I was happy that I’m in second place and well I do think that mine was better than the others’.

When it comes to contest in that school, I was always chosen to be the participant of poster making contests and I always lost to a little kid. I never like it because they only give us two hours and it took me like five hours to make good art with my favorite medium that takes patients, so I have to work faster and impatiently with my least favorite medium, because that medium can be used quickly and doing this makes my work crappy. My least favorite medium are pastels because they are kind of messy and my work with it is dirty. Another thing that bothers me is when I was partnered with someone who is not an artist or someone I don’t have a good chemistry with because they don’t care about me and making the art that they end up making it crappy. The times when I got on the top three was when I was partnered with someone who may or may not be an artist but tried the best to make the art good and with a good chemistry with me. I have spend six years in that school and only three times that I made it to the top three out of six times a year.

And about that school I mentioned, I left that school because I graduated high school and I’m going to be moving to college and I will be taking fine arts.
